Legal Disclaimer

Limitation of warranty and general disclaimers

1. General Disclaimer

The information and tools provided by the DocDock application ("the App") are for general document management, sharing, and utility purposes only. All utilities are executed locally on the user's hardware. While we strive to maintain high software stability and performance, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or availability of the App's tools.

2. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) File Transfer Disclaimer

DocDock allows local peer-to-peer file transfer over Wi-Fi and LAN networks.

  • Security and Acceptance: You are responsible for ensuring you only accept connection pairing and file transfers from trusted devices and users. The developer has no control over which files are sent between devices and is not liable for files containing malware, viruses, or offensive content shared via local transfers.
  • Transfer Failures: Network packet loss, local router configurations, firewall settings, or device battery management can interrupt transfers. We disclaim any liability for incomplete, failed, or corrupted file transfers.

3. Third-Party Cloud Integrations

DocDock offers API connections to Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Dropbox.

  • No Affiliation: DocDock is an independent utility and is not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with Google LLC, Microsoft Corporation, Dropbox Inc., or any of their subsidiaries.
  • API Access: Cloud storage APIs are accessed directly from your device. We are not responsible for provider downtime, rate limits, token revocation, or deletions of files from your cloud account.

4. On-Device File Processing, OCR & Speech Recognition

OCR (optical character recognition), file conversion, and speech recognition utilities are executed entirely on-device using local libraries and APIs (such as Google ML Kit and Whisper AI models).

  • Platform & Feature Availability: Certain features, specifically on-device OCR for image-only or scanned PDF-to-Text conversions, are platform-dependent (e.g. available only on iOS and Android mobile platforms) and subscription-gated. On unsupported platforms or under non-premium status, the application will append placeholder text indicating these limitations rather than performing OCR.
  • Accuracy & Quality Limits: Recognition, text extraction, and transcription accuracy is heavily dependent on source document quality, formatting, image resolution, and native operating system framework algorithms. The Developer does not guarantee the typographical, layout, or semantic accuracy of extracted text, OCR document search layers, or speech transcriptions. Please note that speech recognition is designed for transcribing clear spoken voice recordings and is not reliable for transcribing music, singing, or audio files with high background noise.
  • Whisper AI CPU Processing: Audio and video transcription uses Whisper AI models that run entirely on your device's CPU. Transcription time varies significantly based on file length, audio quality, and device processing power. Large files (such as podcasts, movies, or long recordings) may take considerable time to process. The Developer is not responsible for processing delays or device resource consumption during transcription.
  • Data Integrity: All file conversions (including PDF-to-Text, image-to-PDF, or audio formats) are utility-level calculations. Please confirm the formatting, completeness, and accuracy of your output files before deleting original source documents.

5. PDF Editor Limitations

The PDF editor includes search, replace, and OCR functionality that has performance limitations to prevent application instability.

  • Search & Replace: Search and replace functionality is disabled for PDF files larger than 50 pages to prevent performance issues and application crashes. For larger documents, please use alternative tools or split the PDF into smaller sections.
  • OCR Limitations: OCR (Make Searchable) is disabled for PDF files larger than 50 pages on mobile devices to prevent memory exhaustion and crashes. This feature is available only on iOS and Android platforms.
  • File Size Limits: The PDF editor has file size limits of 50 MB on mobile devices and 250 MB on desktop platforms. Files exceeding these limits cannot be opened in the editor to prevent out-of-memory errors and application instability.

6. File Size Limits & Processing Constraints

Different tools in DocDock have file size limits to prevent memory exhaustion, application crashes, and device instability. These limits vary by platform (mobile vs. desktop) due to available RAM.

  • File Transfer: Peer-to-peer file transfers have a maximum limit of 2 GB per file. Larger files cannot be transferred through the app.
  • File Converter: File format conversions are limited to 100 MB on mobile devices and 500 MB on desktop platforms. Files exceeding these limits cannot be converted.
  • Document Scanner: The scanner has a file size limit of 50 MB on mobile devices and 200 MB on desktop platforms, with a maximum of 100 pages per scan. Larger documents should be scanned in sections.
  • PDF Editor: As detailed in section 5, PDF editing is limited to 50 MB on mobile and 250 MB on desktop, with OCR and search/replace disabled for files over 50 pages.
  • Batch Compression: When compressing files into ZIP archives, the total uncompressed size of all files cannot exceed 2 GB.
  • Image Editor: Image editing loads the entire image into memory. Very high-resolution images may fail to load or cause performance issues depending on device RAM.
  • Transcription: Audio and video transcription uses CPU-intensive on-device processing. Large files (podcasts, movies, long recordings) may take considerable time to process and may cause device heating or resource consumption.

7. Corrupt, Tampered, or Unsupported Files

DocDock processes files locally and cannot guarantee successful handling of all file types or conditions.

  • Corrupt Files: Files that are corrupted, truncated, or have invalid headers may fail to open, convert, or transfer. The app is not responsible for data loss resulting from attempts to process corrupt files.
  • Tampered Files: Files that have been modified outside of standard specifications (e.g., malformed PDFs, invalid image metadata, corrupted audio streams) may cause processing errors or application instability.
  • Unsupported Formats: While DocDock supports many common file formats, not all formats are supported. Attempting to process unsupported formats may result in errors or unexpected behavior.
  • Encrypted/Protected Files: Password-protected PDFs, DRM-protected media, and encrypted files may not be processable. The app does not bypass encryption or DRM protections.
  • User Responsibility: Users should maintain backups of important files before processing. The Developer is not responsible for any loss of data, corruption, or damage resulting from attempts to process problematic files.

8. Media Playback & Slider Synchronization

DocDock includes local audio player and editor utilities.

  • Playback Seek & Progress: The media player utilizes native device audio APIs to play and seek media tracks. You acknowledge that the progress slider indicator may occasionally display minor synchronization lag or slight inaccuracies (especially near the end of a track), depending on the audio file format encoding, variable bitrates, or system decoder latency.
  • Audio Edits: Local audio trimming, fading, and ringtone exports are processing-heavy tasks. You should maintain backup copies of your source files before executing destructive local edits.

9. Developer Disclaimer of Responsibility

The Developer provides DocDock as a utility tool "as is" without any express or implied warranties. The Developer is not responsible for:

  • Any loss of data, files, or documents resulting from app usage, crashes, or device failures.
  • Processing delays, device overheating, or resource consumption during CPU-intensive operations such as transcription, conversion, or OCR.
  • Accuracy or completeness of transcriptions, OCR text extraction, or file conversions.
  • Any damages arising from the use of peer-to-peer file transfer features, including receipt of malicious files.
  • Compatibility issues with specific file formats, devices, or operating system versions.

Users are responsible for maintaining backups of important files and verifying the accuracy of processed documents before deleting originals.

10. Updates and Support

The Developer reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any local tool feature at any time without notice. We are not liable for any inconvenience or data access limitations resulting from feature updates.
